Board Seats Two New Members

Natural Times-January/February 2008

At the last board meeting, December 3, 2007, the Board had the pleasure of seating two new members, Madelon Horwich and Jeannette Reed. These two highly qualified and energetic additions to the board were selected after a month-long search and interview process conducted by the nominations committee: Dave Watson, Jim Terrell and Joshua Youngblood. Upon unanimous acceptance of the committee's nomination, Madelon and Jeannette attended the December 3 meeting and will participate fully as directors at the Board's next meeting, January 7, 2008. Both of the interim board seats will be open during the next election in June.

Madelon and Jeannette are filling the vacancies left by Darlene Duran and Helen Hennessey, both of whom recently resigned because of family and career obligations. The Board regrets the loss of Darlene and Helen and thanks them for their commitment and service to New Leaf Market. However, we are excited to have two new members ready to contribute to the Co-op.

Madelon is a certified mediator and professional editor, and has previously served on other community boards. She brings with her a particular interest in the impact that future natural foods stores will have on New Leaf Market. As competition increases in the Tallahassee area, she hopes to help New Leaf Market continue providing what it has always provided: a rewarding work environment and an integrating force for the community. Jeannette has served on a hospital board and has worked previously in the real estate business. She is community driven and currently lives and works on an organic farm (Lodestar Farm), where she helps plan and organize retreats for earth-conscious groups.

Please join the Board in welcoming our two new directors.
