Co-op secures expansion space after three-year search
TALLAHASSEE, FL (Feb. 28, 2007) - New Leaf Market, Tallahassee's only natural foods cooperative, is expanding and renovating its current location.
New Leaf Market is expanding into the adjacent store front at 1235 Apalachee Parkway, formerly occupied by Crystal Connection. Crystal Connection has moved further down the Parkway Shopping Center near the Olive Garden. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in October 2007. The expansion will allow New Leaf Market to offer significantly expanded product lines, with 13,600 square feet of store space compared to 9,200 square feet previously available.
"Since our last expansion in 2001 our sales and customer base have significantly grown," said Larrane Hartridge, general manager for New Leaf Market. "We've been working long and hard to find the perfect expansion opportunity for New Leaf Market. We're confident that the new store will offer a warmer, more inviting and more spacious shopping experience. We're very excited to finally be able to answer our customer's demands for more natural and organic products."
Open for Business As Usual
Like the 2001 expansion, New Leaf Market plans to remain open for the entire construction period. The deli will experience temporary disruptions while it is relocated.
New and Expanded Product Lines
The new co-op will increase product selection by 25%. Every department will see modest increases in product selection, with the exception of the produce and wellness departments that will see significant growth. The deli will be re-designed, re-located and enlarged to better accommodate quick service and a larger selection of healthy fare. A meat and seafood department will be added that will offer fresh, packaged and frozen organic, free range and wild products.
